About Dan McGuffin

Dan McGuffin brings a lifetime of training, performance and an unwavering love of music to his students as a teacher of guitar, bass and drums. He perfected his craft with accomplished musicians such as Michael Curatto and Jim Campilongo and also studied at the Blue Bear School of Music and Canada College.

Dan has performed all over California for the last 37 years with eight successful Bay Area bands including Jordan Playboy, opening for bands like "The New Riders of the Purple Sage" and "Graham Parson’s Flying Burrito Brothers". Dan later played for the band Scarecrow, gigging regularly at local hotspots like The Stone and The Mabuhay Gardens. Most recently, Dan played drums and sang with The Mike Nold Band.

He has been teaching for over 13 years. Currently, Dan can be found teaching guitar at Head-Royce, a K-12 school in Oakland. His students, young and old, are a testament to his patient, unique style of teaching, beginner to intermediate.
